Whats are double blade louvres?
Our cutting-edge double blade louvre design boasts several advantages over traditional louvres. Firstly, the double blade louvres create a sleek and streamlined roof appearance. Additionally, they reinforce the structure of the pergola, enabling it to withstand New Zealand's harsh climate with ease. Furthermore, the double blade louvres provide excellent insulation, keeping you cool on scorching summer days.
Thanks to their innovative design, our double blade louvres are highly water-resistant, making them an ideal choice for rainy days, ensuring that you stay dry and comfortable.
Can I add blinds or shutters to my lounge?
Blinds and shutters can be added to your louvre system even once it's installed! These add-ons effortlessly attach to your existing pergola, enabling you to enclose your lounge area and enjoy it all year round.
If you're unsure how to add these to your louvre system, simply contact our team.

Installation
How do I measure my space?
Measure the maximum length and width of the space to be covered. For height, provide the highest point the louvre system should reach. Deduct 15cm (150mm) from the overall height to calculate the internal height.
If you’re looking to make sure the louvre system is installed above a window/doorway, ensure the internal height is greater than the height of the window/doorway.
Unsure? Contact us.
How do I mount to a soffit?
If you want to mount your louvre system to a soffit, we can provide brackets which enable this.
Please contact us to discuss this further.
Who can help with the installation?
As we are supply only, we do not undertake any installations. Please reach out to one of our recommended installers HERE.
Will I require building consent or compliance?
With the louvre lounge being a semi-permanent structure, building consent is most likely not necessary however, you must contact your local council to ensure the pergola complies with all local guidelines and regulations.
Note: We are not liable for ensuring your pergola complies with local guidelines or regulations.
How do I install the louvre system?
Installation is a 2-3 man job which any keen DIYer could complete. We provide many installation resources which cover installation on a concrete pad however, installation on a deck is more complex.
Please refer to installation help for more information.
Will I require an electrician?
ShadeTec simply plugs into your regular power outlet although a licensed electrician can hardwire the pergola to the power outlet instead as well.
Can I install onto a deck?
You certainly can however, reinforcement of the deck will need to be completed. We recommend consulting a professional to ensure safety.
Please visit Installation Help for more information.
How many power outlets do I need?
For both our 3x3m and 3x4m sizes, just 1 power outlet is required however our larger double bay 4x4m, 5.67x3m and 5.67x4m sizes require 2 power outlets.
It may be possible for a certified electrician to convert the two plugs into a single one.
What is the Recommended Number of Installers for the Louvre Lounge?
Given the size of the structure, a team of 2-3 individuals is recommended for the installation process.
